Elderberry is a classic example of the style of fruit mead for which Schramm's Mead is best known. This mead is full of elderberry aromatics and flavor with notes of treacle, dark Japanese plum, and earthy blackberry blended with premium honey.

Extremely rich and honey shines

This mead is extremely rich and sweet, though the acidity from the elderberry balances it out considerably. This is one Schramm’s product where the honey truly shines— it is noticeable both on the nose and on the palate. The viscosity of the mead makes the fruit come across as jammy not only in taste but also in texture, which I was not crazy about. Overall not my favorite, but definitely high-quality and well-made.

I have been enjoying trying the different mead varieties available from Schramms. The elderberry is complex, fruity, and so smooth. I would recommend trying this batch as well as the Heather mead. Both are incredible and worth the price.

Liability Waiver for the Purchase and
Consumption of Schramm’s Mead “Elderberry”
I, being of sound mind and body, fully understand and acknowledge that Schramm's Elderberry Mead has been known to cause sensitivity or allergic reactions in some individuals. I agree not to consume Schramm's Elderberry Mead if I am allergic or sensitive to elderberries. Further, even if I am not aware of my own allergies or sensitivities to elderberries, I understand and acknowledge that if I consume Schramm's Elderberry Mead, that I could have a sensitivity or an allergic reaction to it. All of that said, and in exchange for the purchase and consumption of Schramm’s Mead “Elderberry” produced by KDS, LLC dba Schramm’s Mead located at 327 W. 9 Mile Rd. Ferndale, MI 48220, I hereby agree as follows:
I and anyone claiming on my behalf release and forever discharge Schramm’s Mead and its affiliates, successors and assigns, officers, employees, representatives, partners, agents and anyone claiming through them, in their individual and/or corporate capacities from causes of action of any nature and kind, known or unknown, which I may have against Releasee or any Released Parties arising out of or relating to any injury, loss or damage to person and property that may be sustained as a result of participation in consuming Schramm’s Elderberry.
I understand that consumption of Schramm’s Mead Elderberry involves inherent risks, including risk of illness, pain, suffering, physical or psychological injury, and/or death, and I assume all related risks and voluntarily participate in the consumption of Schramm’s Mead Elderberry.
In consideration of having been permitted to purchase Schramm’s Mead Elderberry, I for myself, my heirs, personal representatives or assigns, do hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue KDS, LLC dba Schramm’s Mead from liability from any and all claims resulting from personal injury, discomfort, illness (including death), and property loss arising from, but not limited to, consumption of Schramm’s Mead Elderberry.
I agree to indemnify Schramm’s Mead against any and all claims, actions, lawsuits, damages and judgments, including attorney’s fees, arising out of or relating to my consumption of Schramm’s Mead.
This Release shall not be in any way construed as an admission by KDS, LLC dba Schramm’s Mead that it has acted wrongfully with respect to me or any other person, that it admits liability or responsibility at any time for any purpose, or that I have any rights whatsoever against Schramm’s mead.
This Release shall be binding upon the parties and their respective heirs, administrators, personal representatives, executors, successors and assigns. I have the authority to release the Claims and have not assigned or transferred any Claims to any other party. The provisions of this Release are severable. If any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable, it shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. This Release constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes any prior oral or written agreements or understandings between the parties concerning the subject matter of this Release. This Release may not be altered, amended or modified, except by a written document signed by both parties. The terms of this Release shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State/Commonwealth of Michigan.
I hereby agree that I will not transfer this bottle of mead to any other person. I will accept any and all liability arising from the consumption of this mead by any person other than me.
Indemnification and Hold Harmless: I also agree to INDEMNIFY AND HOLD Schramm’s Mead, and their officers, employees, family members and agents HARMLESS from any claims, actions, suits, procedures, expenses, damages and liabilities, including attorney’s fees brought as a result of consumption of Schramm’s Mead Elderberry by me or any other person consuming Schramm’s Mead Elderberry purchased by me at any time.
Severability: The Undersigned further expressly agrees that the foregoing waiver and assumption of risks is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the law of the State of Michigan, such that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.
Acknowledgement of Understanding: I acknowledge that I have been informed that previous customers have experienced nausea and vomiting after having consumed Schramm’s Mead Elderberry. I have read this waiver of liability, assumption of risk and indemnity agreement, fully understand its terms, and understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue. I acknowledge that I am consenting to the agreement freely and voluntarily, and intend by electronically agreeing to these terms and conditions to completely and unconditionally release KDS, LLC of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law.
I represent that I am at least 21 years of age, have carefully read and fully understand all the provisions of this Release, am competent to execute this agreement, and am freely, knowingly and voluntarily entering into this Release.
By purchasing this mead, I agree to all of the terms and conditions above.
